Willamette KC shows in Salem, OR |
Menza
was our only Pharaoh entered this weekend, and only in Rally, where she
picked up back-to-back legs in Advanced A to finish her RA title.
What's more; she did it in style with a 3rd and a 1st placement.
This new RA title qualifies her for the PHCA's Versatility Certificate
Excellent (our 5th VCX Pharaoh to date)! |

Sep 24-25
Vancouver KC shows in Ridgefield, WA
|
We
had a nice entry of 7 Pharaohs in conformation each day. Sonic
picked up BOB both days, with his son Guile taking
WD/BOW both days for back-to-back majors, and his daughter, Ett,
taking WB each day for a point. Additionally, Sonic picked up the
last leg he needed to complete his Rally Novice title (which he earned in
three straight tries). He is now our 9th Pharaoh to qualify for the
PHCA Versatility Certificate award!

Sep 26-27
AKC Lure Coursing in North Bend, WA |
The
weather was great at the Cascade Coursing Club's trail this weekend.
The event was well attended, with 11 Pharaohs competing on Saturday and 13
competing on Sunday! Highlights of the weekend include:
 | Saturday, Zelda won the Open Stake, Menza won the
Special Stake, and Kahla represented the Veteran Stake. BOB went
to Zelda (Menza forfeited to her niece), for another 5 point major! |
 | Sunday, Zelda and Feyd tied for 1st place in the Open
Stake, and Zelda was kind enough to forfeit to her kennel mate, thus
giving Feyd a major and giving Zelda the final point that she needed
to complete her Field Championship! Jag was 3rd in Open for
another point, and Deja - who is coming back out after having puppies
just 10 weeks ago! - was the winner of the Veteran Stake today.
BOB went to Feyd, for a 5-point major. Our usual running
machine, Menza, unfortunately chose this day to start cheating, and
finished a very un-exciting 3rd in the Specials Stake on this
day...! |

PHCA National Specialty |
This
year, for the first time in history, the National was held in the Pacific
NW (Eugene, OR) and put together by our own MHPHC (Mt. Hood Pharaoh Hound
Club)! We have all sorts of updates on Nefer-Temu's showing, so
without further ado:
Conformation:
 | Feyd was WD and Best Bred-by at the National for 5
points to finish! |
 | Guile was Best Puppy at the National, BOS in
Sweepstakes, RWD at one supported entry, Best Puppy and onto Group 1
Puppy at another supported entry! |
 | Io AND Phoebe each took WB for a 5 point major on one
of the supported days! |
 | Rory was WD for a 4 point major at one of the
supported entries! |
 | Sonic, Menza, Amy, and Feyd were all in the final cut
at the National. |
Companion Events (Obedience, Agility, Rally):
 | Bosch and Zelda each earned the first leg towards
their CD in obedience at the National Trial (Zelda edged out Bosch for
High in Trial by only a point and a half!) |
 | Zelda, Nadia, Menza, Bosch, Kahla, Sonic, and Jet ALL
earned qualifying scores in Rally in their respective levels!
Jet earned his RN title over the weekend, too! |
 | Nadia qualified with placements in Excellent Agility
over the weekend |

Zelda and Bosch, 1st CD leg!
Lure Coursing:
 | Nefer-Temu hounds won 3 out of the 5 stakes at the
National Lure Trial (Zelda won Open A, Menza won Specials A, and Sonic
won Veterans) all for 5 point majors! This finished Sonic's
Field Championship (his 3rd major, actually)! |
 | Additionally, Nefer-Temu hounds came in 2nd in 4 out
of the 5 stakes (Ett in Open A, Jet in Open B, Io in Specials B, and
Kahla in Veterans). |

August 29-30
St. Helens Shows |
This
was an exciting weekend for us at a fairly local show. In
conformation, Sonic was brought out of
semi-retirement to win two more BOBs, a big Group 2 on Saturday,
and a cut in group on Sunday. Even more exciting is the fact that
our Kahla earned the final leg that she needed to
complete her amazing RAE title!!! She even did it in style,
taking a 1st place in her very competitive Excellent B class!
HUGE CONGRATS to Tabitha and Kahla. This is definitely a
"first" for the kennel, and, we believe that she may be only the
2nd Pharaoh in history to ever earn this advanced title!!! |

and 1st in her Novice B class on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

VC (Versatility Certificate) and also has helped her dam, Samba,
earn the final points she needed to qualify for her coveted ROMX (Register
of Merit Excellent) title! Way to go to Menza and her rally
trainer/handler, Sarah! She also earned her CGC (Canine Good Citizen)
on Saturday. |

and her consistently great performances in Rally! (We are proud of
her owner/trainer/handler, too ;-) |

AKC Lure Coursing |
This
Chintimini Kennel Club trial held in Cottage Grove, OR, drew an impressive
entry of 10 Pharaohs; 5 Opens and 5 Specials. In Open, Phoebe
took top honors and 4-pt major! Sonic
ran well enough for the 2nd place and 2 more points towards his FC
title. Feyd was 3rd for his first coursing
point. In the very impressive Specials stake made up of five
great-running BIF-winning bitches, Menza took
top honors and went on to win BOB and her second Best
in Field!
Special thanks to Menza's "professional
releaser" and best buddy, Tabitha, for escorting her to her BIF
win. |

May 8-10
Southern Oregon KC shows |
The
Nefer-Temu crew had a pretty terrific weekend in Klamath Falls, OR!
On Friday, Sonic and Feyd

strong Hound Group. Feyd took a Bred-by
Exhibitor Group 2 on this day as well. On Saturday, young
Ett did us proud by taking BOB and a Puppy Group

Summary of the Last Quarter of 2008 |
Much

by event, here is a summary of the last quarter of 2008 and into January
2009:

Agility Jumpers (NAJ) titles in agility, and also legs in USDAA and
AKC Open. |

National Lure Coursing Championship (NLCC) |
Six
Nefer-Temu Pharaohs competed this weekend. Congrats to IO, Phoebe,
and Menza in the Open Stake, and Luna, Bosch, and Kahla in the Specials
Stake. Zelda also qualified, but sadly had to stay home due to an
untimely season... In all, 18 great running Pharaohs from all over the
country competed.
Menza - expertly
"handled" by her best (human) friend, Tabitha (thanks again,
Tab!) - was our real 'star' this weekend, taking 2nd place for 3
points on Saturday, and winning the Open Stake for another 5-pt major on
Sunday, thus finishing her Field Championship in grand style. In
addition, she also won the "Best of the Best of Breed in
NLCC" runoff for the honor of representing Pharaoh Hounds in
the NLCC finals against all the other NLCC breed winners. We are so
proud of our fleet-footed girl and all of her recent lure coursing
accomplishments!
IO and Phoebe - the youngest competitors at only 13
months of age - did very well, placing 2nd and 3rd behind
Menza respectively on Sunday, earning 3 and 2 points respectively.
Luna also placed 3rd in a VERY competitive Special stake on Sunday.

Nefer-Temu
was well represented and highly successful this weekend. On

First in a sizable Hound Group. It was a thrilling win.
Though it is hard to top that, his daughter Zelda
did her thing in the Rally Obedience ring and earned the final leg she
needed to finish her Rally Advanced title. She qualified three times
out of three tries! On Sunday, Sonic was again BOB (with a cut in
group - which was more than I expected on this day, actually...lol), and
the lovely Luna was BOS.

TWO new Champions, and great weekend wins all-around! |
Nile
was obviously watching over the Nefer-Temu "kids" from Heaven
this weekend, because all over the world, there were successes!
 | Fri: Amy (a Nile daughter) finished her
JC title |
 | Sat: Amy
competed in her first AKC lure trial and won Open and BOB for a
major! Sister Kahla won the FCh Stake. |
 | Sat: Across the pond in Sweden, Enya
made her presence known by winning another CC and BOS to finish both
her Swedish AND Norwegian Champion titles! It was her first try
at a CC since turning 2 (they have to be 2 to become Champions in
Sweden), and she did it! |
 | Sun: Not to be outdone
by his Swedish sister, Bosch earned his FOURTH major and
finished his AKC Championship handily. |
Special thanks to the owners of all four of these
winners--Crystal & Tony (Amy), Tabitha & Alex (Kahla), Sofie,
Madelene, & Alexandra (Enya), and Alice (Bosch)--whose hard work and
dedication has allowed them to shine and be recognized!

Yakima KC Shows |
This
was our first show in a month, and we had a fun time in spite of the 100+
degree temps. There were 6 Pharaohs entered each day. Sonic
had another very successful weekend, going BOB both days and taking
another Group 3 on Saturday in a typical strong NW Hound Group! Menza
was WB/BOS both days from the BBE class for 4 more points (2 each
day). She is now
"pointed out," needing only a major to finish. Puppy Zelda,
at just over 6 months of age, made her debut in the ring. Though she
didn't beat Menza this time around, she showed beautifully - for a
6-month-old - and got nice compliments from both
judges, which made our day!

Ephrata Moses-Lake KC Shows |
In an
entry of 8, Menza surprised us all by taking
WB/BOW/ and BOB (over sepcials, including brother Sonic!) from the bred-by
class for her first major on Saturday. My favorite handling charge,
Oggie (new CH Naha Tuatha de Ogma SC, EAJ, OA), took WD for the final 2
points he needed to finish his Championship! Sonic
was BOS. On Sunday, Sonic took BOB, Menza WB/BOW/BOS, and Oggie was
again WD. |

Timberland Valley DFA Shows
|
These
shows were held in Centralia, WA. Sonic was BOB both days, onto a
Group 4 on Sunday in quite a large Hound group!
Un-pharaoh-related, but news-worthy nonetheless: my
Ibizan Hound handling charge, Deanna (DejaVue's Where No One's Gone B'for)
also had a great weekend, winning BOB on Sat. from the classes (over
top-ranked specials in an entry of 14 Ibizans) for a 5 point major to
finish her Championship. Yeay Deanna! |

Sonic
had an exceptional weekend, winning BOB both days, and taking a GROUP 1
on Saturday followed by a Group 3 on Sunday. He was
breeder-owner-handled, as always! Way to go, Sonic! Menza
went BOS each day for two more points towards her bench Championship!

HAPPY
BIRTHDAY to my wonderful REGAL and the lovely
lady NILE, who have enriched our lives for 11 years
and counting! Both are still fit and happy and enjoying life.
Nile is a certified "retiree" while Regal is still enjoying the
competition of Rally Obedience and making occasional show and lure
coursing appearances in the veterans classes. |

Mar. 17-18
AKC Lure Trial |
Menza
finished her JC title on Saturday, but unfortunately blew a pad and had to
be pulled from competition. Sunday, however, she was healed enough
to run and handily won both the Open Stake and onto BOB for her first 2
points. Nadia ran well enough to win the
Open Stake for a point on Saturday. Kahla
won the Specials Stake on Sunday.
The highlight of the weekend for us, however, was
watching our veterans, Samba and Regal,
chase the bunny. Regal, just days shy of his 11th birthday, ran
strongly as the test dog on Saturday. Most spectators could not
believe that he was 11! Samba (age 10) ran in competition on Sunday
in the Veterans Stake. It was great to see her running so strongly
and even giving her young and athletic daughter, Menza, a serious
"run for her money" in the BOB run-off!

HAPPY
BIRTHDAY to our beloved SAMBA. She turns 10
years old today and is still going as strong as ever. Samba is still
competing in rally and lure coursing, and makes occasional veterans appearances
at shows. She is active at Doggy Daycare and still goes on long bike
rides, keeping up with her "kids" (Sonic and Menza). |

major! Sonic won BOB (and got a pull in a
very heavy hound group) on Sunday, with sister Luna
taking BOS. Amy, who made her debut as a
special this weekend, took BOS on Saturday (a supported entry!) Bosch
and Menza took WD and WB/BOW respectively for
another point each on Sunday. Bosch also earned his CGC title at

Eukanuba National Championship |
This year, this
prestigious show was held in beautiful Long Beach, CA (where
it was sunny and warm...a welcomed change from the cold rain, wind, and
sleet the NW has been having for the past month!) Sonic
and Deja represented Nefer-Temu very well.
Sonic, handled by myself (as always) took BOS, Best Bred-by Exhibitor, and
1st Award of Excellence. Sister Deja, handled by Pam Lambie, took
the other Award of Excellence. Because of these wins, Sonic and Deja
are qualified to compete at Crufts in 2007 and/or 2008! We flew home
Saturday night after showing, so it was a quick trip, but fun none the
less.

Vancouver Kennel Club shows |
We had a GREAT
weekend...lots to report. Regal and Samba were entered in Rally
Obedience and both really shined. On Sunday, Regal
finished his Rally Advanced (RA) title with a score of 94 and 2nd place in
a huge class. He finished his title with one 1st place, and two 2nd
placements! Samba finished her Rally Novice
(RN) title with a very respectable score of 95! She is now qualified
for her Versatility Certificate from the PHCA, and, with his new Advanced
title, Regal is qualified for his Versatility Excellent title.
On the conformation front, Sonic did us proud
by winning BOB both days and a Group 2 on Saturday in a very large,
competitive NW group. |

Two Cities Kennel Club shows |
Crystal (Amy's
owner) and I had a fun drive halfway down the west coast to Yuba City, CA
for these shows. Thanks to our dear friend, Marlene, for inviting us
to these shows and for putting us up for the weekend!
Bosch took the major in dogs both days.
These were his 2nd and 3rd major wins. Amy was
WB, BOW, and BOS both days, so she also picked up the majors and finished
her Championship on Sunday. Special Sonic
was BOB in a nice entry on Sunday. We are very proud of the the
three Nefer-Temu kids we had entered (each from a different litter) and
how well they represented this weekend! |

Website Back up! |
Obviously, our
website is back up and running (finally). I figured this would be a
good time to completely re-vamp it to reflect a more "modern"
style. I was way behind the times, as the original was created way back in
1997 using old-school HTML (the fun stuff) and was looking a bit
dated. We hope you enjoy the site's return to the web with a new
"facelift." |
|
Oct. 7-8
Cascade Hound Assoc. |
Sonic
was BOB both days, with Amy BOS. Samba
was entered in Veteran Sweepstakes on Saturday and took a Group 2, and Regal
took a Group 4 on Sunday. |

Sept. 30 - Oct. 1
Rally Obedience News |
Regal
and Samba went to a Rally Obedience trial this
weekend in Corvallis, OR. They both earned qualifying scores each
day in their respective levels (Regal in Advanced A, Samba in Novice B [it
was her first trial ever]). Additionally, Regal took a 1st Place
(Sat) and a 2nd Place (Sun) in his class. |

Sept. 30 - Oct. 1
JC News |
At a JC test in
Monmout, OR this weekend, Bosch earned his JC
title, and Menza earned her first leg on the day
she ran (Saturday). Thanks to Kahla's mom,
Tabitha, for running Menza for me, as I was tied up at a Rally trial all
day. |
